
This guy has been a public nuisance on NYC streets for years. His kink is to sneak up on unsuspecting passers-by and set off a flash within a few inches of their faces, apparently with the intention of photographing their startled reaction as they're blinded by the flash.
Personally, I can't think of anything more unprofessional. When he did it to me on Friday -- for the second time in as many months -- I responded by taking out my S90 and taking exposure after exposure as I followed him across 42nd Street.
Although he claims the streets are free and that he has the right to take whatever photos he wants, he definitely doesn't extend this tolerance to others when his own photo is being taken. Just check out his threatening expression and gesture in the photo above.
If this guy approaches you, or harasses you, I suggest you call 911 and let the police take care of him.
